Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
Written or oral examination (free choice of the participants), 20 minutes; three questions will have to be treated, of which at least two must be answered satisfactorily. Active participation in the discussions will enter the final evaluation.
Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
The course is a basic course in character; it aims at preparing the particpants in fundamentals and at continuing in the seminar in law and theology, as prescribed by the curriculum.
Prüfungsstoff
The course will be interactive, i.e. lectures, reports, group activities, debates of cases and events, and of their media presentations will feature in the course. The documentation and additional material will constitute the examination material.

(a) Freedom of thought, of concience, of religion, of ideologies, individual and collective: these human rights will be considered within the framework of the history and present meaning of European and universal fundamental rights; please, keep in mind, they were forerunners of political pluralism.
(b) Religion in the public space: religions and religious communities in the European societies and states; separation and cooperation with the state authorities; recognition procedures;
(c) Organisational principles and structures of churches and religious communities in Europe; in particular, the Protestant Churches.Austria will be a prominent example; it will be discussed as a part of the Western democracies.
