Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Each class will include a discussion of the selected ECJ judgments, as well as the analysis of a mock case similar to the case assigned in the written exam.

The assessment is based on two written exams, namely an interim and a final written exam. During the written exams, students will be asked to solve a mock case, similar to those ones previously discussed in the class.

During the written exams, students will be able to consult the text of the ECJ judgments and Treaty provisions/EU legislation uploaded on Moodle, provided that the latter are printed and not marked without any personal note.

Assessment:
- Interim written exam (50% of the final mark)
- Final written exam (i.e. 50% of the final mark)

Students who actively participate in the class by summarizing the facts and the content of one of the judgments or solving one of the mock cases assigned for the class will receive a “+”. Every “+” will increase the final grade of 0.25 points, up to a maximum of 1 point.

Students are required to receive a positive grade both for the interim and final exam, in order to pass the course

Literatur

Students are required to read the selected ECJ judgments and EU legislation uploaded on Moodle before each class.

The course takes for granted a basic knowledge of the functioning of the EU institutions and decision-making procedures. Students who have not previously attended any class of EU law are encouraged to read the textbook “Essential EU Law in Charts”. This textbook provides in a schematic manner (i.e. through charts) an introduction to EU law:

TOBLER C., BEGLINGER J., Essentials EU Law in Charts. 2nd “Lisbon” edition. Hvgorac, Budapest (2012).
