Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

In order to participate in this course the student has to have completed at least one course in the area of banking, finance or corporate finance. Before the course starts the student is strongly recommended to review the introductory literature.

Moreover it is mandatory for students to pass the common VO "Einführung in das wissenschaftliche Arbeiten".

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Organization: Seminar

The course consists of 2 seminar hours per week. Each student is expected to present and discuss his ideas. Moreover, each student is equally expected to actively contribute ideas and discussion to peer presentations.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

We will first briefly review basic concepts in banking and finance and then discuss applications to real world phenomena and policy issues. We will then jointly read a scientific paper, which also serves the purpose of an introduction into scientific writing.

Prüfungsstoff

Students will select their own thesis topic and present the development of their ideas as they go along. The Bachelor thesis (maximum 30 pages including all figures and references) has to be handed in by end of January 2016.

Bachelor thesis (written): 60%
presentation (oral): 20%
discussion of other presentations (oral): 20%
