080058 VO Corporal Entanglements: Theories, Discourses and Practices of the Body in Contemporary Art (nst.K.) (2015W)

Starting from the premise that the body is one of the most crucial sites for the constitution and contestation of our historical moment, this lecture offers a conceptually driven analysis of diverse aesthetic practices that situate the body as a central element for their engagement.

Whether as object, subject, tool, medium, technology, image, space, or field of reference, the body has become the site for artists to formulate identity - sexuality, gender, race, ethnicity -- and confront the effects of capital on contemporary life.
