030520 KU Comparative Law Culture and Religion (2010S)

The course will examine contemporary issues of comparative law culture and religion.
The course will offer an analysis of the legal and constitutional aspects of religion and culture in modern society. Among other issues the course will deal with a comparative analysis of the models of the interrelations between church and state (total separation; no separation; theocratic state; secular state) and the protection of individual right for religious freedom under the various models of state and church relationship analysis.

a) Resolving disputes between churches and in holy places of a number of religions or different denominations
b) The relationships between the holy see and Israel in the context of the historical statements of the Vatican on the theological approach to Judaism
c) Religious symbols in public space and government institutions
d) Ritual slaughter of animals
