Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
Corporate finance is a field of finance that deals with the financial activities and decisions of corporations. It focuses on maximizing shareholder value through long-term and short-term financial planning and the implementation of various strategies. We will cover the key areas such as Capital Budgeting, Capital Structure, Working Capital Management, and Dividend Policy. I will stick rather closely to Ivo Welch’s book on corporate finance.If time allows, we will also discuss agency conflicts.Overall, corporate finance plays a crucial role in ensuring that a company can effectively manage its financial resources, make informed investment decisions, and achieve its financial goals.
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
Students are required to attend and actively participate in class. Grading is based on a midterm exam, a final exam, homework assigments and in class discussions.
Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
Grading is based on points. The point allocation is midterm exam 30 poins; final exam 40 points; homework assignments and in class discussions 30 points.To pass the course students must
* obtain more than 50% of the available points.
* complete assignments on time.
* not miss more than 2 classes. Attendance is only counted when students arrive on time and attend the entire class.
