Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

As this course is based on the Vienna Seminar in International Economics, a research seminar which will be attended by researchers from several universities and research institutes located in Vienna, the number of students that can be admitted for grade and ECTS points purposes is limited.
In accordance with this being a research seminar, preference will be given to PhD students.

The basis of this course is the research seminar “Vienna Seminar in International Economics” in which researchers from outside the University of Vienna present their research results. The goal of this course is to (a) expose students to the frontier of research in the field of international economics, (b) teach students the use of methods to understand and answer economic research questions in international economics, and (c) show students how to present research results

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Grading will be based on regular attendance and two short writing assignments: For two presentations/papers of your own choice that were presented in the seminar, write a critical assessment and describe a possible extension of the study that was presented. Details will be provided during the first meeting and in the course syllabus.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Students planning to attend this course should have prior knowledge of international economics.
To successfully pass the course, students have to regularly attend the seminar and write two assignments (see above). Details will be provided during the first meeting and in the course syllabus.
