070315 VO Theories and Methods of Global History (2022S)

First, this course will give an introduction into the defining debates on Global History and its distinction from complementary approaches to the “history of the world.” It will then present important methodological issues, such as the delimitation of research topics, linguistic challenges, archival issues, periodization. Finally, over the main part of the course, we will address key issues that define the current practice of Global History and demonstrate the theoretical and methodological implications discussed at the outset.
