      Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

      This tutorial accompanies the lecture History of English, offering a collaborative environment to reinforce and apply what you learn in class. This semester, two separate groups are available, each with a slightly different objective:

      Group 1 meets weekly on Mondays and follows the WS25/26 lecture series throughout the semester (the way you likely know it from your STEOP tutorials). Each week, we review the content of your latest lecture and work through exercises to solidify your understanding. The tutorial also provides ample opportunity to ask questions, clarify challenging concepts, and revisit linguistics basics. This tutorial is a space for all students – whether you’re looking to strengthen your grasp of the lecture content or to explore the subject in greater depth.

      Group 2 (meeting irregularly on Friday/Wednesday) is new this semester and is intended as intensive exam preparation, both for SS25 and WS25/26 students. These sessions take place in the weeks leading up to each exam date, including during the lecture-free period. To get the most out of these sessions, it’s recommended that you watch the lecture recordings beforehand. In the tutorial, we will then discuss the most important concepts from the lecture, work through selected exercises from the tutorial handouts, and address any questions you may have.

      The sessions for Group 2 are scheduled as follows:

      Revision for the second sitting (SS25) on 1 October:

      Revision for the third sitting (SS25) on 3 December:

      In addition to these two tutorial groups, an online gamification course offers a playful way to engage with the lecture content. All tutorial materials are available on the lecture’s Moodle platform.
