Components weighted as above and translated into grades as follows:
>90% Excellent (1/A)
>80% Good (2/B)
>70% Satisfactory (3/C)
>60% Acceptable (4/D)
<=60% Failed (F)

* Attendance is mandatory. Minimum attendance is 80%. (unexcused or excused does not matter)

* There is a strict zero tolerance policy on cheating and plagiarism.

* First time attendance concludes the course application, which means the course will be graded (even if you stop attending the class mid semester and do not take any tests). You can deregister within the deadline.
Unexcused missing of the first lesson will result in an automatic deregistration and students on waiting lists will fill the newly opened spot automatically.
If you should not be able to attend the first lesson please contact the lecturer per email, you will be considered as excused and not automatically deregistered.

General Disclaimer:
- All text and images generated or modified using AI tools in the process of creating a thesis or grade-relevant contribution to the course must be referenced. Offences will be treated as plagiarism. In all courses that focus on writing your own texts in Japanese (especially practical Japanese courses), the use of complete translation tools (i.e. Google Translate, etc.) and generative AI (i.e. Chat GPT, etc.) is not permitted. The use of general dictionaries (i.e. wadoku.de, books, etc.) is of course allowed.
- Plagiarism, i.e. the adoption of other people's ideas and formulations without proper citation violates the principles of academic work. This also applies to self-plagiarism! If plagiarism is detected, this automatically leads to a fail grade for the entire course; the note ‘unauthorized aids’ then appears on the transcript of records, and there may also be consequences under criminal law. This applies to all written submissions without exception.
- Proof of independent work such as presentations, homework, written (final) papers – can be required. If there is doubt about the origin of said course contributions an oral examination can be required at any time.
