Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This course aims to provide an overview of current research on educational inequalities by examining the main individual, social, and institutional factors associated with unequal educational opportunities and outcomes (e.g., socioeconomic background, territorial disparities, gender, special educational needs, characteristics of educational systems, etc.). The seminar also explores the concept of academic resilience, reviews evidence-based interventions aimed at reducing educational inequalities, and examines the role of educational psychologists in promoting more equitable educational environments. Particular attention is given to the impact of inequalities on the cognitive and socio-emotional development and academic achievement of primary and secondary school students.
The seminar combines theory-driven input, critical reading of key texts, and interactive group discussions.

• Active participation during the sessions
• Individual written assessment
• Group oral presentation

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

• Attendance (maximum one absence permitted)
• Active participation during the sessions (20 points): active engagement in in-class activities and discussions
• Individual written assessment (40 points): develop a portfolio including written reflections on the course material and a critical analysis of one's own educational pathway through the lens of educational inequalities
• Group oral presentation (40 points): give a presentation proposing an evidence-based intervention to reduce a specific type of educational inequality and outline an evaluation protocol to assess its effectiveness

A minimum of 60 points is required to pass the course.
