Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This course has a twofold objective: to introduce students to educational psychology as both a field of psychological science and a professional career domain.
The seminar provides students with the fundamental concepts of educational psychology, introduces the main areas of activity (including research, counselling, prevention, intervention, and evaluation), and familiarizes them with major contemporary debates and challenges in the field (e.g., persistent myths in education, evidence-based practice, education in the 21st century, etc.).
The seminar combines theory-driven input, professional testimonials, critical reading of key texts, and interactive group discussions.

• Attendance
• Active participation during the sessions
• Individual written assessment
• Group oral presentation

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

• Attendance (maximum one absence permitted)
• Active participation during the sessions (20 points): active engagement in in-class activities and discussions
• Individual written assessment (40 points): conduct, report on, and critically reflect upon an interview with a professional working in the field of educational psychology
• Group oral presentation (40 points): give a presentation on a contemporary issue in educational psychology

A minimum of 60 points is required to pass the course.
