Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The seminar critically examines the relations and interconnectivities of political and economic institutions and organisations striving for power and dominance and the role and positionioning of so-called 'organized crime'. The examination of everyday experiences of the socio-cultural modes of these 'corporate bodies' based on selected exemplary case studies will enable seminar participants to develop a critical apparatus for independant research in the field.
The seminar's goal is providing theoretical-methodological knowledge to enable participants to gain insight and competences for independant further work in the relevant topic areas.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Group or individual work with 10 Min. topic presentation and final paper, the mode of active SE-participation co-determines marking. Marking is based on active participation including discussion and short written work (30%), presentation (35%), and final paper (35%), max. absence: one session. Closing date for final paper delivery: 30.9.2016.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Prüfungsstoff

Apart from some introductory input lectures the seminar is based on intense communication, open discussion and active contribution from all participants to gain insight and competences for independant further work in the relevant topic areas.

The relevant literature will be presented at the beginning of the seminar.
