Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

These are the tutorials for the lecture course "Functional analysis". The students are expected to solve exercises before class and present them during the seminar, at the instructor's request. The list of exercises to present will be provided via the Moodle page of the course. Some exercises must also be handed in in writing (through the Moodle website) or in a written exam during the seminar.

A main objective of the course is to help the students understand the main lecture, and the exercises are chosen with this goal in mind. That is why it is strongly recommended that the students solve all the exercises.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

The students are expected to solve exercises independently and declare which problems they have solved (via Moodle). During the seminar, the instructor will call upon students to present their solutions on the blackboard. There are also two written exams (May 5 and June 23, 2026). Some exercise solutions must also be handed in in writing (via Moodle).

The grade is determined by the number of exercises solved, the number and quality of board presentations, and the written exercises / exams. The maximal grade requires solving 80% of the exercises. In this way, a student can miss some assignments without impacting the final grade.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Attendance is mandatory. Any unavoidable absence must be reported to the instructor in advance, who will determine if it is excused. Failure to attend without a valid excuse, or absence from the first seminar session on March 10, 2026, will result in a negative final assessment or in de-registration from the course.

Minimum requirements: (i) attendance, as described above; (ii) at least 60% of the assigned problems and two satisfactory blackboard presentations; (iii) satisfactory written assignments; (iv) positive assessment in the exams.
