Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

CONTENT
- Introduction to rheology and the deformation mechanisms of rocks

- Rock deformation via laboratory experiments: capabilities, challenges, and Case Studies

- Global view of rock yield. From planetary bodies to the abnormal deep-earth seismicity

MAIN GOALS:
- Familiarity with the main concepts of rheology and the experimental methods used to investigate them in the laboratory

- Understand the microphysical processes, timescales, and the assumptions from a lab-to-nature extrapolation

- Students will be exposed to cutting-edge scientific problems in the field that are the focus of ongoing research.

- Ability to analyze a geophysical paper from a rheological-mehcanical point of view
