Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
The students will actively elaborate some of the key principles of remote sensing. They will learn how to pre-process remotely sensed data in order to make them ready for analysis. The will further be guided through practical exercises using various GIS software packages, deriving variables from different types of remotely sensed data (e.g. satellite scenes, aerial imagery, terrestrial laser scans), and map environmental changes, such as river patterns or land use changes. Finally, they will quantify processes with the respective data and generate thematic maps.

- 4 homework exercises (15% of the grade each - 3 points, in total 12 points)
- 1 final exercise at the end of the course (20% of the grade - 4 points)
- Active participation during the lessons (20% of the grade - 4 points)
