Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The lecture “Sustainability and Digital Transformation” is hosted by the “Spatial Sustainability and Digital Transformation Hub (SSDT Hub)” at the Department of Geography and Regional Research. This lecture introduces key perspectives on Sustainability and Digital Transformations drawn from a geographical perspective. It aims to deepen students‘ understanding of core theories, concepts and current case studies by engaging with contemporary major debates and recent advancements in this interdisciplinary field.
The objective of the lecture is twofold: first, to enhance students' understanding of how geographical and digital perspectives contribute to the (spatial) analysis of the impacts of global change on regional and urban levels; and second, to critically analyse the challenges to move towards sustainability transformations.
The first session introduces terminologies and relevant concepts for a common understanding and knowledge foundation. Each week, well-known researchers will share their approaches on sustainable and digital transformation. As many of the them participate in public debates about the probable effects of the current climate crisis and about possible remedies, we will continue critical discussions during this lecture.
See Moodle for the final lecture program.
