Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This lecture will introduce students (of Geography and related disciplines) to Spatial Data Science (SDS) from the perspective of Geography. As an entry point to SDS, the lecture will outline all stages from the initial conceptualization and representation of data to their creation, entry, cleaning, and analysis, e.g., using clustering or classification. The lecture will include classics such as clustering via DBSCAN, outline common methods in point pattern analysis, review OGC simple features as the foundation of vector data, and develop a first understanding of issues of computational complexity, all while being driven by example driven by human and physical geography.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

There will be a 90-min final exam based on the content provided in the slides and (potential) further reading materials.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

A positive evaluation (passing grade) is given with an overall rating of 51% or more.

Prüfungsstoff

The final (multiple-choice) exam will be based on materials covered in the lecture and additional readings (chapters, paper) made available via Moodle.

EXAM DATE: 26.01.2026 09:45 - 11:15 Hörsaal II NIG Erdgeschoß EG04
