Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The excursion, which will be held in Liguria (northwestern Italy), provides an overview of flora and vegetation along a steep gradient covering several vegetation zones (Mediterranean hard-leaved vegetation; submediterranean summer-green thermophilous vegetation; temperate broad-leaved forests; alpine to subnivale mountain vegetation), each of which includes specialized habitat types (e.g., rocks, serpentine soils etc.). Emphasis will be put on the biogeographic relationships and history of the encountered plants, for instance with respect to Pleistocene range shifts.
