Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
Advanced bioacoustics: acoustic analysis of vertebrate vocalizations, including theoretical (e.g. digital signal processing) and practical (Praat and Python scripting) aspects. Prerequisite: Bioacoustics I or equivalent.
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
Assessment is based on homework and final exam (75%) and a final project (25%) involving an analysis of human or animal vocalizations using Praat.
Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
Prerequisite: Bioacoustics I or equivalent (basic signal processing and vertebrate vocal production)
Prüfungsstoff
Lectures, homeworks and final exam in English; Projects should be written in English.
Literatur
Written textbook chapters along with several advanced papers in bioacoustics.
