Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The course is developed to strengthen the methodological and analytical skills of the students. We cover all the different phases of scientific research with a specific focus on the field of Cognitive Biology, including: (1) study design, (2) methods in basic ethology, neuroscience and bioacoustics, (3) data collection, (4) conducting and interpreting statistics, (5) proposal and abstract writing, (6) the process of peer-review, and (7) poster presentation skills.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

The participants will be asked to attend the lecture blocks, collect data in the field, analyse their data, hand in written assignments, prepare and make an oral and poster presentation of their work, and participate in the scientific discussions.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Prüfungsstoff

The course comprises a combination of lectures, field work, individual work, and group work/discussion.
