320097 SE Economic and social rights of asylum seekers (2004S)

In the last decades the number of armed conflicts increased which led to extensive refugee flows. In the light of these developments and analysis of the extent of state obligations to provide state care for asylum seekers is of particular importance. In the course of this seminar international human rights standards with specific relevance to the de-facto situation of asylum seekers will be analysed: International standards regarding the right to housing, the right to work, the right to social assistance and others will be examined. Emphasis will also be put on the implementation of these rights at the national levels.
