Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
The research workshop is primarily aimed at analyzing and interpreting text and/or visual material collected by the participants in the course of their projects (interviews, observation protocols, documents, images and moving images, multimodal data, social media data, etc.). Various methodologies and methods from the qualitative-interpretative spectrum are applied such as qualitative content analysis, discourse analysis, grounded theory, ethnography, and image, film and video analyses. The research workshop is aimed at doctoral students who have completed the presentation to the faculty (FÖP) and have already collected empirical material for their project. Knowledge of the method(s) chosen for the respective project is required.Participants will be asked to prepare 10-minute presentations of their PhD projects for the first seminar unit, focusing on methodology and methods as well as the research material to be analyzed and interpreted.During the following seminar sessions, exemplary analyzes and interpretation processes are carried out by small groups (3-4 students) on the basis of the data material brought by the participants from an ongoing project, and open questions and problems are discussed. The group work is supervised by the lecturer. The joint analysis and interpretation ensures the intersubjective validity and the quality of the results. The main goal of the research workshop is to guide the analysis of concrete material in a suitable small group. This enables continuous work on material collected for the respective PhD project and opens up the opportunity to also learn from the knowledge and experience of other participants. Please note: The prerequisite for participation in the research workshop is the conclusion of the doctoral thesis agreement.
