Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This is a seminar for doctoral candidates in any area of philosophy. The focus is on philosophical method and metaphilosophy in relation to "knowledge". While epistemology is the study of knowledge, knowledge claims and their contestation are central to all areas of philosophy. This seminar will highlight different philosophical methods by focussing on different philosophical approaches to knowledge. This means that most of the sessions will involve the critical discussion of texts about philosophical method, as relating to knowledge. The exact list of methodological texts will, as well as the number of sessions devoted to methodological texts, be decided by the participants themselves (but I will provide a list of proposed texts to get us started). There will also be opportunity for participants to present and discuss their own method.

Preparation of sessions, participation in the sessions, giving feedback on others' work and receiving feedback on your own work.

Regular attendance, preparation, participation.

Prüfungsstoff

There is no exam, the assessment is as stated above.

Literatur

The texts to be studied and discussed will be decided on by the participants.
