Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
This is in part a research seminar, where we discuss recent important work in harmonic analysis and also present our own research. This is also a seminar for advanced students (master and Ph.D.) to get an overview of current questions in the field. Newcomers should have sufficient knowledge of Fourier analysis. The seminar is associated with the Vienna School of Mathematics (VSM). The precise set of topics to be presented will be discussed on the first seminar meeting.
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
To obtain a grade, participants should attend the seminar regularly and give a presentation on a suitable topic in harmonic analysis. In addition, students should pass a written exam, based on the topics of the presentations. Students that give highly satisfactory presentations and show a high level of engagement during the seminar may be exempted from the exam.
Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
Active participation and seminar presentation. Attendance is mandatory. Students cannot miss more than two appointments, and these absences need to be excused in advance (e.g., by email to the teacher). Attendance to the first meeting is required to confirm registration - students not present at the first meeting will be de-registered. Students must read emails sent to the addresses provided in the registration system, and are obliged to reply to those if asked to do so within a certain time frame.
