Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This is module 2 of Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) course, which is specifically for participants who have completed RCR-module1. The course covers principles of research integrity and research ethics with focus on a) authorship, b) academic publishing, and c) scientific peer review. Participants will be introduced to principles and good practices in authorship and publication. They will learn to identify predatory journals and questionable practices in academic publishing. Scientific misconduct and retractions will also be discussed. Participants will learn how to be or become good authors and reviewers. The aim is to stimulate awareness of relevant issues in above three topics and ways to approach them from a RCR perspective.

The course will have two parts-
1. E-module on ‘Integrity in Academic Publishing: authorship & peer review'- to be completed online over moodle platform, as per the above timelines.
2. In-person lecture and plenary feedback session.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

The participants will need to complete the e-module ‘Integrity in Academic Publishing: authorship & peer review' online over moodle platform of the course as per the above mentioned timelines. After completion of the e-learning exercises, participants will be attending the in-person session to discuss and present the tasks performed in the e-module.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Completion of RCR-module1 is mandatory for being eligible to attend this course.

For successful completion of RCR-module2, following are the requirements- completion of all tasks in the e-module, reading of the relevant RCR guidelines, attending the in-person session along with discussion/presentation of selected tasks from the e-module.

Prüfungsstoff

Participants will discuss/present selected tasks from the e-module in a plenary session (group activity).
