SPECIAL INFORMATION FOR SITTING 2 (September 29 – 18.00-20.00)
Approaching CS” will be an online exam via MOODLE
in the mode “Down-/Upload Exam” (see: “Prüfungsbogen zum Download”) in „open book format”What does this mean?DOWN / UPLOAD EXAM = usually done by students at home on your PCsThose registered for the exam will find on moodle the slot with headline
“Approaching Cultural Studies” Prüfungstermin 29.9.2020On the day of the exam (starting time) you will find on this moodle page a word-doc file (on the top of this page) with the title “EXAM Dr. Loidolt Approaching CS SS 2020– 2nd sitting”.You can start to download the exam at 15 mins before the official start
Apart from the exam (2 pages), I will include some additional notes where I provide a few explanations how the questions shall be answered ( - usually I explain my exams orally in class, before the exam starts). The first 15 mins are provided that you have time to read these explanations & instructions. The exam will last for 90 mins (as usual)
Once you are finished with writing your exam you upload it on moodle (Aktivität “Aufgabe”) in the prescribed period of time (…. there are an extra 15 mins provided in the end, in case any problems occur …)If any problems occur during the exam (breakdown of internet-access, etc) you can reach me via my:
e-mail address: melanie.loidolt@univie.ac.at
or mobile-phone: 0699-199 782 84 (only to be called in case of emergency on the day of the exam)
In case any very serious problem emerges during the exam (e.g. internet-connection breaks down or is interrupted and you cannot get in touch), I can decide that you send the exam later via mail.OPEN-BOOK-FORMAT =Due to the online down/upload mode of the exam, I cannot control your access to the scripts and sources you have – therefore we must proceed in the “open-book format”.
Open-book exams are sat remotely by students on their own – usually in their own homes at their PCs.
Students are able to access their textbooks, notes and other resources (… this is usually not the case). Although you will have the opportunity of looking in books and searching the web, the questions will be posed in a way that you will not have the time to do this to any great extent. Instead, you will do best if you approach the exam as you would normally, spending the time in the exam focused on writing the best answers you can.
Do write answers in your own words!
If there are cases where I suspect plagiarism, students can be tested at random in the following 3-4 weeks of correction-time.Usually students type their answers.
Some people worry that people who can type quickly will have an unfair advantage, but the examiners are interested in quality not quantity, and are not looking for longer essays than normal.
If you are hand-writing your answers, you will need to be able to scan or photograph pages for submission.Additional Info on the Exam Sitting 2 SS 2020:Nothing changes concerning preparation & examination mode (in comparison to usual mode) - i.e.:
-- Prepare with questionnaire I provide
-- Your exam will be conceptualized as usual for this course:
there will be 6 questions (here I combine questions from the questionnaire).
This means, each of these 6 questions will contain a few sub-questions which are meant to guide you
through the answering-process.ONE IMPORTANT CHANGE:
Due to the open-book format ALL QUESTIONS have to be answered in FULL SENTENCES!
(i.e. note-form is NOT accepted in this particular exam!!!)
Questions are to be answered in accordance with the amount of points, i.e. you write most for the question with the highest score of points. So consider first how many points you get for a question
