Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture offers an introductory overview of different religions. We will with an overview of the history of religion, addressing the problems of translation between different cultural areas and gender issues in the history of religion. The presentation of the history of religion then focuses on the characteristics of selected religions in terms of their historical and content-related developments. Each unit will focus on one or two religions in order to give participants an insight into the diversity of the history of religions.

Each unit of the lecture will also be broadcast via live stream (access exclusively via Moodle). In addition, recordings of each unit will be made available on Moodle.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written exam, one date at the end of the lecture period, two dates during the lecture-free period and two more dates in the fowllowing semester. This is a standardised test based on the material provided in Moodle.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Regular participation in the course is essential for contextualisation. The course will also be recorded and will be available to listen to in Moodle until the end of the semester.
50% of the possible number of points in the written exam is required to pass the course.

Assessment criteria:
50-60%: sufficient
60-75%: satisfactory
75-90%: good
90-100%: very good

Examination topics

Relevant are the documents provided in Moodle as well as the respective lecture units, which will be made available in Moodle for listening until the end of the semester. Physical attendance at the lecture is recommended.

A bibliography will be provided at the beginning of the lecture in Moodle.
