Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture introduces some central representatives and topics of metaphysics from an intercultural perspective by means of selected examples.
Topics: Plato, Aristotle, Buddhism (Nāgārjuna, Asaṅga, Vasubandhu), Hinduism (Śaṅkara, Rāmānuja, Madhva), Daoism (Lǎozǐ, Zhuāngzǐ, Chéng Xuányīng), Neo-Confucianism (Zhū Xī, Wáng Yángmíng), proofs of God and their criticism, theodicy, carmatheodicy, and ontodicy.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written Multiple Choice Exam in presence.
No aids allowed. It is not possible to cancel the examination by leaving at the beginning after viewing the examination questions .
Examination in German, if required also in English.
Four exam dates: End of January / begin of February, and at the beginning, middle and end of summer semester.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Assessment standard: positive mark from 50% of the achievable points or correct answers. 1 point can be achieved per question.
Minimum requirement: Knowledge of the central contents of the lecture and reading of the documents.
