The focus is on a) direct hatred of Jews, especially in anti-Jewish dialogue writings, b) indirect hatred of Jews in other theological argumentations (so-called "hermeneutic Jews") as well as c) hatred of Jews in hagiography and worship of relics (protomartyr Stephanus; relic of the cross).
Goal: The seminar contributes to the critical reflection of these Christian traditions, which are still present in society today, and tries to make a Christianity without hatred of Jews conceivable.
Method: Under guidance, primarily primary source texts are analysed, which each participant has to prepare independently. Presentations on supplementary secondary literature are to be given. An own term paper applies this on the basis of a self-chosen topic in an own analysis.
The practical implementation will be adapted to the possibilities of the in-class teaching.
