Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Guilt is a human phenomenon relating to hard and soft reality (Helm Stierlin): What is considered and felt as guilt depends on societal norms, systems of law and applied sanctions (commandments and interdictions), and on what humans consciously or unconsciously expect from each other or withhold (wishes, fantasies, religious worldviews). The violation of exterior or interior norms entail punishment, sense of guilt or tendencies of punishing oneself, a psychodynamic focused by psychoanalytical concepts. Reversely these topics today are rather neglected in practical theology and pastoral care or attenuated by receiving psychoanalysis contrary to its intention and self-understanding.
