Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim is to provide students with in-depth knowledge of the policy area "Area of Freedom, Security and Justice" of the European Union. The students will get an overview of selected legal acts or acts currently under negotiation and the related legal and political problems. Emphasis will be placed on asylum and migration policy as well as police cooperation at the EU level. The historical development of the relevant policy areas of the EU will be presented, important ECJ decisions will be analyzed, the primary law provisions will be explained, and important secondary legislation will be presented. Excursions will be made i.a. in the areas of the solidarity clause (Art. 222 TFEU) and Civil Protection (Art 196 TFEU).
Lecture with opportunity for questions and discussion.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Positive evaluation from 50% of the points in the written exam; collaboration in the course

The written exam takes place at the last meeting (27 March).

Examination topics

The examination material depends on the scope of the presentation documents (Powerpoint presentation). Details of individual EU secondary legislation acts will not be examined.
