Students must attend the kick-off class. During the kick-off class, the seminar organisation and schedule will be presented, topics will be assigned, and deadlines for submitting seminar papers and bachelor's theses will be announced.
In addition, students will receive references to introductory literature and tips for their own research during the preliminary meeting.

Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This seminar deals with recent developments in European Union Law. Students habe the opportunity to reserach and present a classical topic of EU-law or a principle of EU-law based on and referring to a recent leading judgement of the ECJ.
Topics and introductory literature will be provided (to registered students only) via moodle. In the wrap-up discussion perspectives and legal policy issues shall be raised and discussed. Interdisciplinary perspectives are more than welcome.

Assessment and permitted materials

The assessment is based on participation in the discussion (own presentation and participation in general discussions) within the seminar (= 20%), the written handout (presentation or such = 20%) and the oral presentation (= 60%) for diploma students, whereas for bachelor-students the presentation shall be marked together with the bachelor-thesis.
The requirements for the seminar paper are in line with the common practice at the Faculty of Law. Details and suggestions for further research work shall be provided via leaflet on moodle and in the kickoff class.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Oral presentation, written presentation/handout and participation in discussion in class.:
Oral presentation: 60%
Written presentation: 20%
Participation in discussion: 20%.

Registered students shall receive an overview of the requirements in detail in the kick-off class and via MOODLE.

Examination topics

Students will want to present a topic of their own choice (out of a list provided) and hand in a short overview of the topic/the presentation itself.
Also, students will participate in classroom discussion.
Details will be provided in a leaflet and discussed in the kick-off class.

Introductory works shall be posted on MOODLE shortly after the kick-off class.
