Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The state is a monster. This is what we have learned from Hobbes. But while he wanted to demonstrate the necessity of nearly unconditional obedience, critics of statehood aim at either overcoming the state altogether or taming the Leviathan by means of supranational law. The seminar will address topics ranging form anarchism to the European Union.

Assessment and permitted materials

Oral presentation on a topic of the seminar, seminar paper of roughly 12-15 pages, unless you decide to prepare a „Diplomseminararbeit“. The much more demanding requirements for the Diplomseminararbeit will be set out on the Moodle page.
