Aims, contents and method of the course

Basic concepts and approaches to international security (collective defense, collective security, cooperative security, neutrality, etc.); the present security situation at the global and regional European levels: good and bad news, in particular terrorism, the proliferation of WMD, energy security, climate change

Assessment and permitted materials

participation in discussions in class and final written exam

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

provide students with a better understanding of the legal and political dimensions of contemporary security issues and a theoretical background enabling them to assess problems of security policy on their own in the future

presentations by the instructor, discussion in class
