Aims, contents and method of the course

Seminar on Inventory Management in Supply Networks

As part of the seminar, students develop the ability to research, analyze, and present relevant research questions in supply chain management—particularly in inventory management and vendor managed inventory —and build the academic skills needed for the master’s thesis.

To facilitate the participants in developing the skills necessary to write a scientific paper, the seminar includes gaining expertise about current topics as well as the ability to conduct required steps such as a literature review, choosing appropriate structure and layout, and citing scientific references correctly.

Students will collaborate in pairs on a seminar topic. There will be a list of topics related to inventory management, focusing on methods and solution techniques, from which students can express their preferences. Based on their preferences, topics will be allocated accordingly. Students will write a seminar paper, present their work, and participate in the discussions.

Assessment and permitted materials

Final presentation and discussion of the topic (40%, e.g. with PowerPoint or Pdf)
Term paper (40%, e.g. with Microsoft Word, Overleaf, Latex)
Questions and Discussion during the presentations of the colleagues (20%)
All papers will be checked for plagiarism.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

For all dates attendance is mandatory.

Grading key:

4: 50% to <63%
3: 63% to <75%
2: 75% to <88%
1: 88% to 100%

Examination topics
