Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This course focuses on the basics of Austrian private foundation law. The participants will be given an overview of the legal nature, the establishment and the motives for the establishment of a private foundation. Furthermore, the legal status of the founder and the beneficiaries is dealt with.After completing this course, students have a basic knowledge of Austrian private foundation law and are able to independently solve simple legal questions in this context.
Assessment and permitted materials
Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, changes to courses may be necessary at short notice. You will be informed of such changes in due time.
The performance assessment is based on oral participation (max. 10% = 4 points), as well as two written examinations in German (45% each = 18 points each, duration of each examination: 45 min) at the end of the course, whereby both examinations are held in presence.
Collaboration points can be obtained through participation in the units. Only one participation point can be awarded per unit. In total, no more than four participation points can be achieved.
If 21 points have been achieved, the course has been positively completed.Copying from the Internet or from textbooks in the case of online open-book examinations and using an annotated law text or labelled post-its in the case of presence examinations is considered unauthorised (information on the use of unauthorised aids can also be found at https://privatrecht.univie.ac.at/service-news/schummeln/).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
In the 1st unit (preliminary meeting on 01.03.2022, 11.30-13.00) attendance is compulsory without exception. Students who do not show up will be deregistered from the course unless there is an important provable reason for their absence (apology and proof of absence before the first unit to Markus Edelsbrunner; markus.edelsbrunner@univie.ac.at).Attendance is compulsory for all units of the course, whereby a single unexcused absence will be tolerated (excuse and proof before the respective unit by e-mail to Mag. Edelsbrunner; markus.edelsbrunner@univie.ac.at).The assessment is based on the participation (max. 10% = 4 points) and two written examinations (45% each = 18 points each, duration of each examination: 45 minutes) in German at the end of the course.
