Aims, contents and method of the course

In diesem Seminar widmen wir uns zwei biblischen Schriften, die nach Frauen benannt sind: dem Buch Rut und dem Buch Ester. Im Mittelpunkt stehen ihre Heldinnen und ihre Erzählungen. Wir lesen die biblischen Texte im hebräischen Original und analysieren ausgewählte Passagen aus der rabbinischen Literatur, die diese Bücher auslegt und weiterdenkt. Am Ende des Seminars werden die Teilnehmer in der Lage sein, die beiden Schriften der Ketuvim und ihre rabbinische Rezeption kritisch zu reflektieren und in größere literarische und theologische Zusammenhänge einzuordnen.

Assessment and permitted materials

- Mitarbeit: Vorbereitung der Texte der Primärliteratur im Selbststudium und Diskussion im Plenum in den Seminareinheiten (40 Punkte)
- Referat (30 Punkte)
- Seminararbeit (30 Punkte)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Attendance: A maximum of two sessions may be missed to receive a passing grade; the overall grade is calculated from the sum of the points of the different assignments.

Grading scale:
89–100 points = 1
77–88 points = 2
64–76 points = 3
51–63 points = 4
0–50 points = 5
