Aims, contents and method of the course

The course provides the theoretical foundations of Experimental Archaeology and the History of Technology. The integration of interdisciplinary research methods, including scientific analytical techniques, serves as an essential tool in this context. Alongside covering the history of research, scientific theory, and methodological principles, specialists from various fieldssuch as textile research, archaeometallurgy, fine metalworking, woodworking, and bone and antler processing, among otherswill present their respective areas of expertise and techniques.
An additional key focus is the documentation of experiments and their preparation for publication. The integration of interdisciplinary research methods and scientific analytical techniques serves as a vital tool in this context.

Assessment and permitted materials

Die Teilleistung(en) sind als schriftliche und mündliche Test in Präsenz geplant.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Die Studierenden sollen einen Überblick und Kenntnis über die Methode der Experimentellen Archäologie bekommen. Ziel ist es, die Stärken und Schwächen sowie die Einsatzmöglichkeiten der einzelnen Ansätze kennenzulernen, um diese bei eigenen Forschungen selbständig einsetzen zu können.
