Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
In this course we will read and analyse the main primary sources (in English translation) for the study of the Mongol Emmpire (13th-14th centuries) and its impact on broader dynamics of medieval Eurasia. From travel accounts to official historiography, to court cases and merchant handbooks, the course offers an overview of the main developments of the cultures and societies of Eurasia in this period, and of how they interacted with each other.
Assessment and permitted materials
Written assignments on the readings for each week. Primary sources and secondary literature for each week will be uploaded on moodle at the beginning of the course.
