Aims, contents and method of the course

This course introduces students to debates related to transnational history and the Age of Revolution, focusing on specific historical actors. We will discuss book chapters, research articles and primary sources dealing with exiles, foreign fighters, deportees, economic migrants, explorers, tourists and religious missionaries, and consider topics such as turmoil and revolution, political mobilisation and repression, and economic and social development, as well as criminal history and forced labour.

Assessment and permitted materials

Students will be assessed based on short written assignments, a presentation, and their contribution to discussions.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students will be assessed based on short written assignments, a presentation, and their contribution to discussions.
Short summaries of the literature with main questions or theses for at least 9 sessions (60% of the final grade).
One oral presentation (20% of the final grade).
Active participation in discussions (20% of the final grade).
Regular attendance (students may miss up to two classes).

100% - 87%: 1
86.99% - 75%: 2
74.99% - 63%: 3
62.99% - 50%: 4
