Hybrid teaching: Lectures will be given in the lecture hall and streamed via u:stream (except for lecture #2, which will be held via Zoom in collaboration with the ACDH-CH-ÖAW and streamed into the lecture hall.) Students may attend in person subject to capacity and distancing regulations, or may follow the lectures remotely. There will be a facility provided on Moodle for questions to be taken from remote participants.

Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This Ringvorlesung will give the students a reasonably broad overview of the state of research and working methods in the Digital Humanities. A variety of speakers from different disciplines within the humanities - history, literature, linguistics, art history, archaeology, and more - will discuss what digital methods bring to their own fields, and what they understand the Digital Humanities to be.

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment will be by written examination at the end of the course, consisting of free-form short-answer questions. Written notes are allowed; mobile phones, tablets, and laptops are not allowed.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The threshold for a passing grade is a score of 51% on the final exam.
