Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Detailed list of topics and literature will be handed out during the first seminar
-Definition of Early Modern Times, epoch, methods of periodic
-Clue terms of Early Modern times
-Main problems of political, economic, social, religious, cultural, constitutional development during the period, discussion of links and interaction between these fields
-Discussion of case studies which are aimed at national development mainly of Western European and North American region

Assessment and permitted materials

Schriftliche Leistungskontrollen werden während des Kurses durchgeführt. Als der Teil der Prüfungsleistung wird eine mündliche Präsentation zu einem ausgewählten Thema erwartet, die am Ende des Semesters in schriftlicher Form eingereicht werden muss.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Work out and discussion on the central issues and topics of Early Modern Times
Focussing on the basic knowledge and main problems of Elaboration of the Early Modern Times
Discussion of central terms and definitions relevant for the topic
Exercise in scientific argumentation ( thesis, abstracts )

Examination topics

Discussing of framework, structure and events , focussing on relevant case studies
Exercising for further developing crucial abilities of historical research (how to work with abstracts and summaries, bibliographies and relevant websites, how to draft short review articles, how to work out a short scientific paper)
