Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The course focuses on the history of South Africa since the early modern (with a brief overview of the pre-colonial era), with particular emphasis on the conflicts between European (settler) colonialism and anti-colonial and anti-racist resistance. Another focus is on the continuing impact of historical conflicts (contemporary relevance).Learning objective: To analyse the driving forces and forms/strategies of historical and current conflicts using South Africa as a case study.Teaching method: Lecture incorporating written and visual sources; discussion

The written examination comprises an overview question, four questions on individual aspects, some thematic and some analytical, and a collective inquiry on details (keywords only).
