Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This is a lecture course on feminist economics. We will cover several aspects of this area of economics: its history and development; its main ideas and concepts; and how these have varied over time and place. We will further cover how a feminist view on economic phenomena diverges from that in mainstream economics.

By the end of the course, students should understand a variety of concepts in feminist economics, as well as its goals and methods. They will be able to assess and understand economic phenomena and outcomes from a feminist point of view.

Assessment and permitted materials

Attendance is not required, but it will be helpful to understand and process the material of the course. At the end of the semester there will be a written exam based on concepts presented in the readings, slides, and videos. Students are responsible for all information in the assigned course materials.

Students may not take reading materials or notes with them to the final exam.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The course is assigned 5 ECTS points, which translates to 125 hours of work -- about 100 hours of reading and preparation outside of lecture times. The breadth of the material covered on the final exam will assume that students have spent that much time working through course materials. In order to pass the course, students will need to get at least 50\% of the points available on the final exam. Each question on the final exam will be assigned a particular number of points and thus share of the grade.
