Aims, contents and method of the course

This course aims to provide students with foundational skills for analyzing historical sources. It explores the origins, forms, and transmission of sources from the twentieth century, including qualitative materials such as written, visual, and administrative documents, as well as quantitative sources such as statistical data and population records. Students will learn to approach sources critically, considering issues of context, methodology, and source reliability.
The role of the state in shaping social norms and perceptions of difference will be a key theme in the course. Students engage with historical sources through readings, presentations, discussions, and written assignments, gaining both analytical skills and practical experience in interpreting historical evidence.

All components must be completed and receive a positive evaluation in order to pass the course. 2 excuses for absence are allowed.

It is a course with continuous assessment. All course components will be examined.
