Kindly note that all participants are obliged to arrange and pay the transports from Vienna to Basel, from Basel to Paris and from Paris to Vienna independently. You will be accommodated in apartments predominantly equipped with double beds. Further informations will be provided after the end of the registration period.

Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Excursion to Budapest (c. 28.8.-7.9.) (possibly with a stay in Brno). -
In addition to major works of the Museum of Fine Arts, modern and contemporary art and architecture will be the focus of the excursion. Special emphasis will be put on the transformation of Budapest's monument landscape in the course of the Hungarian politics of remembrance of the last decades and on reactions of contemporary artists* to the political situation.

Objectives: Training in work analysis in presence of originals (architecture, sculpture, painting, "post-media" art...).
Methods: Description of works and joint discussion.

Assessment and permitted materials

All participants prepare (supposedly) two work-analysis (choice and commentary of one or more texts for the other participants; handouts; conduct of the discussions during the trip). Eventually two or three people will prepare one subject together.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

During the preparation: Complete allocation of all external data (iconography, genesis, tradition and state of preservation; evtl. plans). – During the trip: articulation of a personal perspective/interest with regard to the work that is to be discussed; precise description and beginnings of an interpretation, based on the description; attentiveness and active participation in the discussions. – After the trip: written summary of the results (6-8.000 signs).
