Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The seminar focusses on the reception of European art in China and East Asia during the 17th - 19th century. We will look into the activity of European artists at the Qing court, and at the engagement with their works and artworks known from publications circulating in East Asia by Chinese, Japanese and Korean artists and patrons.
Assessment and permitted materials
Essay, presentation, and participation in discussion.
