Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course deepens and expands on the content covered in C1.
We will work on the four skills: reading comprehension, writing, listening and speaking. Special emphasis will be placed on vocabulary work, error correction and written expression.
Expansion of vocabulary, error correction and repetition of grammatical structures.
Production of various types of text.
The course is supported by conversation, discussion and active participation in class
as well as written work/editing at home.
The lessons are designed to be participatory, with individual, partner and group work. Grammar is explained in detail, and we use a communicative approach to cover various topics of discussion.
Each topic, both grammar and conversation, is practised through written and oral exercises in class and at home – using texts, readings, essays, listening exercises and/or short films.

Assessment and permitted materials

Continuous assessment. Course-based examination.
• Two written examinations (75 points each): one halfway through the semester and one at the end of the semester
• One oral examination at the end of the semester (50 points)
• No aids are permitted in any of the examinations.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

In order to successfully complete the course, students must achieve 120 out of a total of 200 points in the three examinations (point distribution: first written examination 75 points; second written examination 75 points; oral examination 50 points).

Grades:
180–200 = 1 / 160–179 = 2 / 140–159 = 3 / 120–139 = 4 / 0–119 = 5
Required level: C1+
In order to achieve the learning objectives of the course, active participation by students is required: individual contributions and group work during the unit. For this reason, attendance at the course is compulsory. No more than two unexcused absences are permitted.
