Aims, contents and method of the course
Assessment and permitted materials
The student is able to communicate in Portuguese, both in writing and orally, on common topics and in everyday situations.
In addition, she/he knows the basics of Portuguese grammar, the present tense of regular verbs and some irregular verbs.In terms of performance, students must successfully complete a final written examination (70%) and an oral examination (30%).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students receive 30% of their total mark on a continuous basis, based on their attendance and active participation in classes; the remaining 70% of the mark is awarded through the final written examination.The final assessment of the course is made according to the following scale:
1 Sehr gut (Excellent): 18–20 points. Excellent performance, complete mastery of the subject matter.
2 Gut (Good): 15–17 points. Good performance, solid mastery of the subject matter.
3 Befriedigend (Satisfactory): 12–14 points. Average performance, acceptable mastery of the subject matter.
4 Genügend (Sufficient): 10–11 points. Minimum performance and mastery of the subject matter required for a pass.
5 Nicht genügend (Insufficient): 0–9 points. Did not reach the minimum required level. Fail.
